We’re proud to be supporting Purple Tuesday, the UK’s first accessible shopping day, this November. At Teesside, we offer our disabled customers a range of facilities all year round so we’re thrilled to be involved with this initiative.
The aim of Purple Tuesday is to increase knowledge and awareness of the needs of disabled customers by supporting long-term changes to businesses and organisations.
On Tuesday 13th November we were joined by the team from Lockwood View. Lockwood is a local day care centre for adults with disabilities. They will be showcasing the reindeer which they made and we sold for them last year. They are going to have a gazebo set up on the park.
The Shaw Trust will be attending on the following Tuesday 20th November. The group work with disabled adults and teach them horticultural skills.
We support all our customers with a range of facilities available all year round.
- Teesside provides a free wheelchair loan facility. Please contact the Management Centre or any store for details.
- All stores over multiple levels have lifts. Larger stores such as Asda, Currys, Next and M&S may offer services such as special assistance or portable hearing loops.
- At Teesside, all staff are trained as part of the 'Working to become Dementia friendly' scheme to meet the needs of customers living with dementia and their carers.
- We host a weekly Autism Hour at Teesside from 9am to 10am on Saturday mornings.
If you need help while shopping at Teesside, please ask any member of staff who will be happy to help.
