Teesside Park has teamed up with the Middlesbrough Football Club (MFC) Foundation to run an educational programme aimed at providing local young people with real-life business experience.

The ‘Raise Your Game’ initiative will see Teesside Park and the MFC Foundation host eight sessions with fifteen Year 9 students from North Shore Academy in Stockton throughout May and June.

Teesside Park will provide the pupils with real-life business experience and advice through a range of activities with retailers including Showcase Cinema and Hollywood Bowl, while Matt Vickers, MP for Stockton South, will provide a careers talk.

The students will also take part in a retail-focused challenge and will present their work back to a judging panel of Teesside Park and MFC Foundation representatives before a winning group is chosen.

Catherine Furlong, centre director at Teesside Park, said:

“We’ve been proud partners of the Raise Your Game initiative with the MFC Foundation for a number of years now. Supporting the local community is incredibly important to us and we have always had great feedback from previous participants. In particular, students have enjoyed gaining real-life experience in a workplace setting.”

Matthew Kirk, project coordinator at the MFC Foundation, said:

“Raise Your Game is a unique opportunity to help students learn about the world of work in a way which is both practical and engaging.

“We’re excited to meet this year’s pupils and see how the next few months will motivate and inspire their future careers.”
