What is Biodiversity?
Biodiversity encompasses the wide array of living organisms present in any given region, including animals, plants, fungi, and microorganisms.
Each of these species and organisms work together in ecosystems, like an intricate web, to maintain balance and sustains life.
Biodiversity plays a vital role in providing essential resources for our survival, including food, water and shelter.
Why a Wildflower Meadow?
Wildflower areas serve as vital habitats for various species, offering food plants and resting spots for beneficial insects. These insects, like spiders, ladybirds, and lacewings, contribute to pest control in gardens and crops.
Moreover, wildflowers attract birds with their seeds and insects, while also providing hiding places and foraging environments for amphibians and small mammals.
We strive to have nature in every corner on our centre. From the beddings outside stores to the ponds alongside the River Tees, we encourage wildlife in all aspects of our park.
